Mr. Turnquist is currently Director, Geosciences of Advantage Energy Services Ltd. (AESL), having joined the company in July 2010. He is a professional geologist with over 40 years of experience in finding and developing oil & gas reserves. Darol received his Bachelor of Science in Geology from the University of Calgary in 1978.

Darol’s career started with prominent petroleum engineering and geological valuations firm, Sproule Associates, followed by employment with several companies ranging from start-up to well-established oil and gas businesses having interests in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin (WCSB) as well as internationally.

 

From 1996 to 2005, Darol was a consulting geologist who developed successful plays that established reserves of more than 20 million barrels of oil equivalent, as well as drilling several high impact development wells. Between 2005 and 2010, he progressed from Exploration Manager to Vice-President, Exploration for TUSK Energy Corporation and its successors before joining AESL.

 

Darol’s four decades in the industry have provided a comprehensive understanding of the WCSB play landscape and the evolution of technologies that have led to step changes in recovery efficiencies over this time. It is Darol’s strong insight into the key reservoir performance attributes and their depositional controls that makes him such a respected leader and valued contributor to AESL’s Integrated Field Review Process where the results literally speak volumes!
